abstract painting by Phillip Govedare Today I visit my plastic surgeon to schedule my breast reconstruction surgery.   This is the final step in this year long process that has literally changed my life.   I am apprehensive to set a date, partly because I don’t want another surgery.   The other part is because it will close the door in this chapter. F inding out I had cancer, all the doctor appointments, procedures, poking and prodding will be all done.   It sounds weird but going through this hell has become comfortable.   It has become part of my daily life.   Every single day I look in the mirror I remember that I am different, I am not the same person I was a year ago.   I have scars that remind me that I am missing something.   It is terrifying but oddly freeing.   Saying goodbye to this stage of my life is relieving but full of nervousness.   Will people be sick of hearing me talk about my experience now that it is over?   Will I feel like I’m back to “normal”?   Will I

As of September 22, 2017 it will officially be AUTUMN .   And as fall returns I get a warm, fuzzy feeling for sweaters, boots and the all-important pumpkin spice latte.   For me, I love to stay on trend as much as possible, but it can be daunting.   How do I know what’s on trend? How do I incorporate new items into my existing wardrobe? How can I upgrade the outfits I already own?   This begins the 3 part series of Autumn Fashion 2017! The Lighthouse Dedicated to Angelina Corrado The purpose of the lighthouse is to guide the way home, to remember where we come from and where we are going all at once. The lighthouse is strong, stable and magnificent. The lighthouse shines her light for all those that choose to seek home and new horizons. During a storm, fog or troubled waters we, as navigators, depend on the lighthouse for guidance. We never want to crash. Sometimes it takes a few attempts to sail through spots that are difficult. Every so often we choose to ignore the lighthouse; we are not ready to come home yet. We are not ready for a new adventure on unfamiliar shores. We are not equipped to see past the obstacles to the beautiful land up ahead. When we decide to ignore the lighthouse, the lighthouse keeps shining. She keeps illuminating the way.
